Water Access Project

In Cambodia, preventable diseases caused by unclean water and poor sanitation remain a leading cause of death. Since 2012, our work in Stung Treng Province has provided thousands of families with access to clean water through wells, latrines, and filtration systems. We believe it is important to provide both the source of water and treatment solutions.

Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH)

We work to improve access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) in rural Cambodia, which is key to lifting communities out of poverty and improving public health. Our project focuses on delivering hand pump wells, ceramic water filters, and community trainings on hygiene.

Lack of clean water and proper sanitation has a direct impact on health, livelihoods, and education in rural Cambodia.

Sustainable Water Solutions

We provide Afridev hand pump wells and ceramic water filters to deliver safe drinking water using cost-effective, community-manageable methods. Through partnerships with the Provincial Department of Rural Development (PDRD), we train community members on maintenance and repair, ensuring long-term sustainability without reliance on expensive external support.

Community Engagement & Ownership

We begin with a baseline survey to understand local needs. We work closely with village leaders, local authorities, and the community to ensure solutions are relevant and targeted. Water User Committees are formed and trained to take responsibility for managing and maintaining the infrastructure, promoting ownership and sustainability.

Health & Hygiene Education

Access to water is only part of the solution. Health and hygiene training are key components to the success of Water Access Project. We also conduct hygiene training, including hand washing with soap, safe water storage, and sanitation practices—to promote long-term behaviour change and reduce waterborne disease.

Living Water

Beyond physical needs, we are committed to holistic transformation. We collaborate with local church leaders to share the Gospel and strengthen faith communities in our project areas. Using the Four Fields Strategy, we support church planting, provide discipleship training, and equip ministry partners with tools and resources to expand their mission.

But whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.
John 4:14 ESV

Dy Ka's Story

"It’s the best source of water I’ve ever had in my life."

"Hello, I am Dy Ka. I am 43 years old. I am married and have 8 children. There are three more members who live with my family, and I am a farmer.

In my village, I only had one small stream and finding clean water was always a struggle. During the dry season, things got even worse. I often had to walk two or three hours just to collect a few buckets of water. The load was heavy, and over time it caused me back pain and exhaustion. Even then, the water I brought home wasn’t safe. Sometimes, I used it to cook and drink without boiling, and my family would often suffer from stomach aches.

Everything changed when the new hand pump was installed close to my home. This is the very first time having clean water just a few steps away from home. I no longer worry about my children getting sick from drinking dirty water. I can cook, clean, and care for my family with joy. Having this hand pump has made my life easier in so many ways. I now use the time I used to spend walking for water to work on my farm and earn more income. It’s the best source of water I’ve ever had in my life.

I’m so grateful for this. Thank you to the team who brought this change and to the donors who care about families in the separated area like my family. Your support has given us not just clean water, but health, hope, and more time to build a better life."
