Our Legacy

Operating for over 30 years, since 1993, Asian Outreach Cambodia is a Christian international non-government organisation. Our vision is to restore hope and dignity to Cambodians by breaking the poverty cycle in rural communities. Our Mission is to equip and empower these rural communities through training and resource development.

Transforming Rural Lives in Cambodia

Operating for over 30 years, since 1993, Asian Outreach Cambodia is a Christian international non- government organisation (INGO). We recognise that poverty is not just a lack of income and resources, but also a result of psychological weakness, low self-esteem, a lack of social voice, and vulnerability to environmental effects. Our vision is restoring hope and dignity to Cambodians by breaking the poverty cycle in rural communities. Our mission is to equip and empower these rural communities through training and resource development. AOC is locally run and operated, and we believe in the power of local people for a local vision; people who understand the needs and context of their country best.

We are registered as an INGO with the Royal Cambodian Government (RCG) and we have a current Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Rural Development to operate in our target areas. AOC is also accredited by the GPP group of the Cooperation Committee for Cambodia as a best practice organisation, something we take pride in, and work hard at maintaining.

True and sustainable transformation of communities requires spiritual, physical, educational and economic change. Therefore, in recent years, we have contributed to the development of diverse communities through capacity building, human resource development by vocational training, education on safe water, sanitation, hygiene and positive parenting. We also raised awareness, trained and empowered women and girls. Our aim is to change the attitudes, behaviors and ideas of the communities to ensure sustainable development and ownership of changes. We are in a new season with a strong commitment to strengthening Cambodia’s rural communities for a better future.

All of our projects meet the actual needs of the communities. We have the experience and ability to implement our programs and we can move forward as an organization to work with outstanding quality and effectiveness. We have therefore developed this three- year strategic plan to outwork our commitment to the development of Cambodia’s rural communities in line with our Sustainable Development Goals. To help achieve our mission we recognize the importance of partnering and networking with like-minded local and international groups.

A Note From Our Director

Imagine a child working in the fields instead of attending school, or remote villages without access to clean water, where families struggle, and women seem to lack the knowledge and skills to promote peace in their family. Imagine young people who need training in soft skills and to reach their full potential, and lastly, church leaders and pastors who need someone committed to working alongside them and equipping them with biblical knowledge and supporting them in the mission field.

Since 1993, Asian Outreach Cambodia (AOC) has been restoring hope and dignity while transforming lives in Cambodia’s rural communities through our programs. We deeply appreciate all who have served alongside us since the beginning and those who have recently joined our mission. Now, we are serving in Stung Treng province, in northeast Cambodia, near the border of Laos. At AOC, we don’t just restore hope and dignity, we build faith, relationships and provide practical support to transform and strengthen rural communities.

We focus on three areas of our transformation approach that we believe true development begins at the grassroots level, so we empower individuals and families to overcome poverty through access to essential services and resources. We also believe that transformation is not complete without addressing the inner life of individuals and communities. We use our Christian witness to guide us to restore dignity, purpose, and hope through spiritual development. Lasting change requires strong leadership at every level, it means that from youth to village elders, from local staff to partners and stakeholders, so we are committed to developing leaders who serve with integrity, vision, and humility.

I was born in Stung Treng, a local who understands these challenges firsthand. I have served alongside AOC since 2017. At AOC, Godly people helped, trained, and supported me to become the leader I am today. After many years in the field, I have witnessed God’s faithfulness. From remote villages to jungles where our organization serves, I have seen God meeting His people’s needs in unique ways.  He cares for them and blesses them in abundant and distinctive ways.

As a Christian organization, we share a calling to love and serve others. This work strengthens families’ faith, reflecting the heart of our shared mission. You can join us in making a difference through prayer and financial support and volunteering your specialized skills or teaching alongside our teams

We thank you and pray for God’s blessings upon you.

30 Rural Areas in Cambodia

Our project area covers Stung Treng province. This region was chosen by AOC due to the high need and potential, being central to the growing GMR development. Previously, AOC operated in Kandal and Prey Veng, areas greatly affected by historical conflicts due to their proximity to the capital. Each of these provinces mainly depends on agriculture for their economy.
