Impact For 2009
- 1102 Households reported hearing health message from primary school students.- 83 youth (age 18-22) in the community were challenged through HIV/AIDS Karaoke Youth Wise Choice program.
- 12 villagers (8 men and 4 women) have been trained as HIV/AIDS community trainers. They have taken the HIV/AIDS message into 5 villages reaching 958 adults. This has led to a reduction in discrimination and an increase in care for people living with HIV/AIDS and their families.
- 48 adults and 8 children with HIV/AIDS received home-based medical care, counseling and support.
- 41 people with HIV/AIDS were eligible and were assisted in accessing anti retroviral treatment at the nearest treatment centre. 38 of these were alive after 12 months of treatment.
- People living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA), family and care givers acknowledged an increased understanding on how their thinking and feelings (mental health) impacts their health and family life through Big Day Out event.
- 34 village development committee members trained in water & sanitation management. Each oversees construction of bio-sand water filters/latrines then educates and monitors 10-15 household in their village.
- 307 households in 10 villages have improved hygiene practices, health outcomes and reduction in debt due to preventable causes.
